The effectiveness of the control on Eurasian watermilfoil (Myriophyllum spicatum) and drift of 2,4-D DMA was determined for two plots in Lake Osoyoos, Wash. Herbicide drift was rapid enough in the case of one test plot to reduce the effectiveness of the 2,4-D DMA applications. In the other test plot less drift of 2,4-D DMA occurred, and good control of Eurasian watermilfoil was achieved. The drift of the herbicide was caused by release of the 2,4-D DMA by the polymer, above water application, improper mixing of 2,4-D DMA with the polymer, and velocity of the water currents.
