Health sciences libraries use new technologies for faster, more accurate access to information. As a result, ethical dilemmas are arising which need to be explored. This paper examines the existing ethical framework of librarianship, and focuses on access to information. The impact of technology on the social responsibility of librarians is considered, as well as the quality of electronic resources and services, instituting fees to support technological advances, and access to electronic information sources challenged by the existing copyright law. |
