The results of this survey illustrate that advance session laws are generally available for all but eight states. While legal researchers and law librarians commonly have to request individual slip laws from the state, or, in some cases, rely on a commercially published legislative service, it was found that these advance services may be obtained from the state legislature, often at considerably less cost. As thirty states have some type of advance session law service, and sixteen of these compete with a commercially published service, it is suggested that librarians investigate all sources for both budgetary and collection enhancement purposes. |
