Addressing the Educational Needs of Nursing Home Social Workers

Title: Addressing the Educational Needs of Nursing Home Social Workers
Author: Gleason-Wynn, Patricia E.
Appeared in: Gerontology & geriatrics education
Paging: Volume 16 (1996) nr. 2 pages 31-36
Year: 1996-03-05
Contents: This paper focuses on the educational needs that social workers from Texas nursing homes indicated would enhance their services to nursing home residents. The majority of professionals providing social services had not received any special preparation in their formal education to work with the elderly, especially those living in nursing homes. These findings should be of interest to educators who, either through formal education or continuing education programs, are preparing social workers and other social service related professionals to provide social work services in the nursing home setting.
