An instrument was designed to evaluate older adults' knowlsedge with regard to medication management. Following evaluation by selected members of the professional community, the instrument was completed by 594 older adults in senior centers, high-rises, retirement communities, and in the community at large. Results indicated that the instrument was useful in identifying knowledge gaps of the respondents and demonstrated differences by site and socioeconomic characteristics. The identification of these knowledge variations can be useful in targeting prevention education programs and in structuring promotional materials to attract appropriate high-risk populations. |
