Title: Improving Efficiency and Performance by Analyzing the Energy Utilization Index
Author: Abouzelof, Yousef
Appeared in: Energy engineering
Paging: Volume 104 (2007) nr. 4 pages 65-76
Year: 2007-07-01
Contents: The energy utilization index (EUI) is defined as the ratio of energy consumption to some measure of demand for energy services. It is often used to measure energy efficiency or intensity and its change over time. For commercial buildings, the most commonly used EUI is energy consumption per square foot (Btu/sq ft). This article will demonstrate how Zions Securities Corporation used the EUI as a basis for a re-commissioning program targeting poor performing facilities, reviewing preventive maintenance procedures, and conducting software audits on the building automation system.
