The efficiency and effectiveness of document delivery systems used within a library network can be a strong influence on faculty and student attitudes toward resource sharing. This article describes a survey administered by one library consortium to investigate usage of a courier service known as ABC Express, a document delivery service that delivers requested items among three libraries three times a week. Issues such as awareness, delivery speed, fill rate, and e-mail notification are explored. Decisions of what items to own and access can be made in light of available data in conjunction with a better knowledge of user needs and concerns. |
