Contents: The advent of new technology has changed the teach- ing role of librarians. The increased role of enduser searching in academic libraries has meant that library instruction is now more important that ever. The experiences of Texas A&M University are examined as an example of a variety of teaching methods employed by one university library to meet the increased demands of its pa- trons for better enduser searches. Librarians, concerned over inade- quate search strategies employed by patrons, design individualized instructions for a variety of databases, provide some individual, one-to-one instruction and teach in you situations employing P equipment that allows onscreen projectton rom a monitor. Remote users have been trained to use the online catalog by development of a specialized training manual.
