Inhoud: How well people learn, not how training is conducted is the measure of successful training. Prior to being able to decide on a class format, solid audience definition must be performed because expectations are critical to success. Once expectations are deter- mined, the best way to transfer the needed knowledge and skills can be decided. This article discusses the differences between instructor led and computer based instruction for training. Instructor led training is most valuable in conceptual training where adaptability and mteraction are key. However, where com- puter or procedural skills are the desired outcome, Computer Based Training (CBT) is the preferred method. When these two class formats are paired, an excellent method for transferring content is born. Trainees have the advantage of concepts presented by an instructor and the skills practice necessary for mas- tery of the procedure thru CBT. Just as audience definition must be performed in the beginning, a class is not complete without evaluation and follow-up. This assists in continually improving the overall learning experience regardless of the format chosen.
