The purpose of this paper is to examine non-tradi- tional recreational activities that may be successfully implemented in programs for the elderly. More adults are willing to experience the thrills and adventures associated with activities erceived to be high-risk. Explanations of some popular perceived Righ-risk activ- ities that can be safely performed are provided. While the effects of participating in non-traditional activit~es on physical or psychologi- cal parameters are not known at this time, this paper invites planners and implementors of recreational programs for the elderly to be dar- ing and explore non-traditional activities for adult participation. |
