In infiltrational uranium deposits in the zone of supergenesis, uranium ores occupy a definite position within the epigenetic zonation series arising in consequence of paragenetic changes imposed upon the already formed rock and succeeding each other spatially in an orderly sequence. The following four zones were determined and mapped: the zone of surficial oxidation in the outcrops themselves; the zone of horizontal oxidation, along aquifers and below the ground water table, invariably confined between some two epigenetically unaltered water-impervious horizons; the zone of uranium accumulation over unoxidized rocks and in contact with the zone of horizontal oxidation (this zone consists of three sub-zones; gray low-grade ores, black ores, gray ores); unoxidized rocks. — IGR Staff. |
