Inhoud: The present study examined the attitudes and beliefs held by four middle school teachers and their 226 students about teaching and learning geometry using Geometer's Sketchpad in a student-centered environment. Findings indicate that teachers liked and valued Sketchpad as a tool but had conflicting opinions about the value of using it to support student-centered activities. Students were quite positive about controlling their own learning and their ability to interact dynamically with onscreen geometric shapes. Findings indicate that the task of changing teacher attitudes about the school learning environment may be more difficult than researchers and educational reformers have presumed.
