Database management systems offer flexibility and power in creating and maintaining bibliographies and lists. In this connection, one database management system especially designed to maintain bibliographic databases on microcomputers is Pro-Cite. Its usefulness to librarians is enhanced by the availability of the Biblio-Link family of softwares that allow the exporting of downloaded bibliographic records from systems such as OCLC and DIALOG into Pro-Cite database. This allows the users to search RLIN, OCLC, DIALOG, BRS, etc.; download the results on a floppy or hard disk; convert those downloaded records into Pro-Cite databases; and edit, select, index, and print out the selected records in a variety of bibliographic styles.
