Title: User-Oriented Instructional Development
Author: Major, Howard T.
Appeared in: Community and junior college libraries
Paging: Volume 5 (1988) nr. 1 pages 19-30
Year: 1988-05-26
Contents: This article outlines procedures for establishing a flexible, user-oriented, instructional development system under the auspices of a community college library. This system is currently being implemented at Jackson Community College, Jackson, MI. It features a drop-in instructional development center where full- and part-time instructors can select modules which will help them apply specific instructional methods and strategies. The center is staffed by library-based instructional developers who collaborate with instructors to produce these modules so that the system is developed by faculty for faculty. Three advantages of this user-oriented system are (1] its ability to accommodate the crowded schedules of instructors; (2) the menu selection of module and entry level; and (3) instructors' ownership of the system.
