Title: Bibliographic Instructional Design
Author: Johnson, Wendell G.
Burke, Adam
Evans, Barbara
Appeared in: Community and junior college libraries
Paging: Volume 10 (2001) nr. 3 pages 17-37
Year: 2001-03-01
Contents: This article offers guidelines for access-based, assignment specific library instruction. Each session is designed to fill a single class-period (50 minutes), but may be extended if time permits. Using the principles of instructional design, a prototype (the topic “capital punishment”) is presented. The study demonstrates how to integrate the online catalog, online databases, and Internet resources into a coherent program of bibliographic instruction. The authors conducted 43 such sessions during the fall semester, 2001 at Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove, IL. Scantron evaluations were distributed to faculty and students after each session. The article ends with analysis and conclusions drawn from the data.
