There have been many applications of operational research methods in library management, few of which seem to have made a lasting impact on those who make decisions and allocate resources. This paper argues for a change in the role of operational research models and gives an example of the way models can be formulated to assist in structuring, exploring and explaining the complex interrelations between the components of a library system. |
