Part-time adult learners have become the new majority in post-secondary educational institutions and are having a significant effect on colleges and universities. One of the major changes noted is the rapid growth of distance education activities within educational institutions. An examination of the factors contributing to this evolution is provided as well as a look at the implications for universities and colleges. It is suggested that educational resource networks are a key adaptive mechanism to be considered and that the child and youth care field is particularly suited to the development of such structures. The benefits of establishing an educational resource network are examined. |
