Recent national and world events have placed a renewed emphasis upon the psychological consequences of disaster and terror. Many governmental and non-governmental agencies, as well as universities and other research centers, have responded with training programs to better equip practitioners and service workers to aid victims and survivors of tragic events. The University of Denver recently created a new program in International Disaster Psychology. This paper describes the impetus behind the program, and offers guidelines for developing a collection of materials to support the teaching and research for this area of study. A list of books, organizations, and journals is included. |
