Title: Information Dissemination and Library Instruction in Psychology Revisited
Author: Thaxton, Lyn
Appeared in: Behavioral & social sciences librarian
Paging: Volume 21 (2002) nr. 1 pages 1-14
Year: 2002-09-01
Contents: A review of both psychological and general science literature of the last decade reveals much discussion about paradigmatic change. In actuality, the process of information dissemination in psychology, with the reliance on peer-reviewed scholarly journals, shows little substantive difference. Faculty members in psychology, aware of students' computer sophistication, may overestimate ability to perform effective database searches and evaluate information critically. The idea of collaboration, including team-teaching, to promote information literacy should be presented aggressively to psychology faculty.
