Jaar: 1989-12-21
Inhoud: The Western Personality Inventory is composed of two tests; the Manson Evaluation (ME) whose purpose is to assess personality traits and behaviors similar to alcoholcs and, the Alcadd Test (AT) whose purpose is to assess alcoholic behavior. It was administered to three groups; engineers (N = 25), counselors-in-training (N = 22) and high school students (N = 25). The statistical analysls revealed significant differences between groups on the ME scales but on only one scale of the AT. Significant percentages in all groups scored above the critical score, indicating problem areas related to alcohol abuse. It was concluded that the total scores for both tests had some validity for interpretative purpose but that empirical evidence on validity and reliability was lacking for the individual scales.
