  Cocreation of Boredom

Title: Cocreation of Boredom
Author: Gotthold, Jacqueline J.
Appeared in: Journal of infant, child, and adolescent psychotherapy
Paging: Volume 4 (2005) nr. 3 pages 244-254
Year: 2005-07-15
Contents: What do we mean when we characterize a treatment as boring? Is it even possible for a treatment to become deadened? Do we believe that out of the ashes of boredom rise the phoenix of creativity? Approaching psychoanalytic treatment from a nonlinear, dynamic, dyadic process enables us to under-stand boredom as an emergent, mutually regulated, cocreated process. This article offers a clinical vignette that focuses on the coconstructed emergence of “boredom” and subsequent “creative” perturbations.
