This study investigated consultants' perceptions of factors related to consultee resistance to school-based consultation services provided by school psychologists. After serving in a school for 14 weeks, school psychology consultants completed a Case Description Questionnaire, rating a wide variety of variables that might have influenced the nature of each consultation, and an Outcome Questionnaire, rating consultee resistance and overall consultation success for each case. The Case Description Questionnaire was factor analyzed, yielding factors relating to consultee, consultant, and organizational characteristics. These factors were then entered into regression analyses with consultants' perceptions of consultee resistance and overall consultation success serving as the dependent variables. All three factors made statistically significant contributions to the fournier regression equation while consultee and consultant characteristics made statistically significant contributions to the latter. It was concluded that consultants' perceptions of consultee resistance to schoolbased consultation are complex, reflecting the simultaneous interaction of a broad range of consultee, consultant, and organizational characteristics.
