Investigated the relationship of expected and actual treatment duration for 63 adult clients and the parents of 68 child clients. The expected number of visits and four other client variables previously found to be related to treatment continuance (referral source, income, age, symptom severity) were used in a stepwise regression analysis with actual number of visits as the dependent variable. For children, no variable was significantly related to treatment duration in this analysis. For adults, expected visits and age were related to actual visits, with expected visits more strongly related. The adult results replicate a previous, similar investigation. Implications of the results for separating adult and child cases in continuance research are discussed. |
