Assessed the separate and combined effects of behavioral parent training and cognitive-behavioral self-control therapy with 42 elementary school age children diagnosed as having attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Subjects were randomly assigned to behavioral parent training (PT), self-control instruction (SC), or a combination of the two treatments (PT + SC). The combined treatment produced significantly more treatment responders at follow-up than either of the single-modality treatments in terms of parent reports of behavioral problems in the home. No treatment, however, had a significantly greater effect on school behavior than any other treatment. |
