Personality Inventory for Children (PIC) profiles of learning-disabled children with emotional problems (N = 72), of emotionally disturbed children with learning problems (N = 85), and of emotionally disturbed children without learning problems (N = 104) were studied. The emotionally disturbed children with learning problems and the learning-disabled children with emotional problems were combined, and discriminant and classification analysis distinguished this group from the emotionally disturbed children without achievement problems. Other discriminant and classification analyses distinguished learning disabled children with emotional problems from emotionally disturbed underachieving children. The results suggest that emotionally disturbed children reaching a PIC T-score criterion of DVL > 59 or one of (ACH or IS or DVL) > 59 require further evaluation for possible learning disabilities. |
