The history, needs for and goals of a proposed national conference on professional preparation of clinical child psychologists is presented. The conference ad hoc committee for the conference routed the plan through the APA committees and Board of Directors which resulted in endorsement of the entire APA structure. The documentation of need, principal issues of the conference, which include an establishment of a definition of clinical child psychology, the training format, credentialing criteria, and information dissemination, are presented. Finally, the overall goals of the conference and the timetable are presented. |
