A syndrome of repeated unsuccessful foster home placements further traumatizing already maladjusted children is described. Some case examples are described followed by a psychodynamic and developmental approach to conceptualize causes for the syndrome. A specialized foster home program is described derived from the understanding of why and how the previously mentioned syndrome develops. The program is designed to interrupt the cycle of repeated retraumatization of these children and youths. |
