This essay examines the work of three Honduran scholars, Rocio Tabora, Marvin Barahona, and Dario A. Euraque on the subject of mestizaje in Honduras. In the 1990s the official discourse of mestizaje entered a state of crisis, as did the ways of interpreting it. With their groundbreaking works, these researchers give us an opportunity to continue the cultural critique of Honduran miscegenation. As a crucial contribution to the debate, we make a case for incorporating gender and sexuality in the analysis of mestizaje. |
