23—THE VISUAL PERCEPTION OF THE COLOUR OF SCOURED WOOL

Title: 23—THE VISUAL PERCEPTION OF THE COLOUR OF SCOURED WOOL
Author: Thompson, Barbara
Whiteley, K. J.
Appeared in: The journal of the Textile Institute
Paging: Volume 77 (1986) nr. 4 pages 284-287
Year: 1986-07
Contents: Experiments are reported in which the differences in lightness and yellowness that could be visually observed in daylight for pairs of carded-wool samples were related to the differences in colour measurements. The fifteen observers who took part could all distinguish differences in lightness measurements of more than 4.0 in Y or 2.0 in L* and differences in yellowness measurements of 2.5 in y - Z or 2.0 in b*, but most could not distinguish any differences of less than 2.0 in Y or 1.0 in L* or less than 1.0 in either Y - Z or b*.
