After a phenomenological discussion of elasticity, viscosity, friction, and plasticity in textile structures, rheological models of coupled frictional, elastic, and plastic elements of finite and infinitesimal types are demonstrated, and their stress-strain behaviour is derived. These models are applied to deformation-recovery phenomena of textile fabrics in extension, shearing, bending-buckling, and creasing, and theoretical conclusions are compared with experimental results.
