An investigation of the effects of changing heating times during the draw-texturing of nylon 6.6 is reported. As the heating time was reduced, the values of the crimp rigidity of the yarns also decreased. From an analysis of these results, relative values of the rates of setting of partly oriented nylon 6.6 yarns can be evaluated and compared with those for fully drawn yarns. It is shown that a change from fully drawn to partly oriented nylon 6.6 yarn trebled these rates of setting as measured by crimp-rigidity values. The dyeing behaviour of the yarns was investigated, and a minimum value of reflectance was found for yarns having a heating time of about 0.2 sec. |
