A proof from plane geometry uses a diagram of a triangle, its altitudes, and three circles to prove the concurrency of the altitudes at the orthocentre. The proof characterizes the orthocentre as the radical centre of the three circles. We show that this diagram is also a self-sufficient device for drawing and analysing images in three-point perspective. Interest in one topic can therefore be used in an immediate way to motivate the study of the other. |
