Improvement of the penetration rates with respect to some operational and formation properties in exploration drilling in Turkey

Title: Improvement of the penetration rates with respect to some operational and formation properties in exploration drilling in Turkey
Author: Akun, E.
Karpuz, C.
Appeared in: International journal of mining, reclamation and environment
Paging: Volume 4 (1990) nr. 3 pages 101-106
Year: 1990
Contents: This paper describes the results of the field and laboratory work to find the optimum rates of penetration at different formations in diamond drilling by the variation of operational factors. An intensive field study was undertaken at Zonguldak hardcoal region on the drilling rigs of the General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration. All the formations encountered are studied in detail for optimum penetration rates resulting in the increase of the penetration rates at least three times the rates attained before. According to the conclusions derived, optimum ranges for the operational factors are suggested together with related penetration rate equations.
