Title: A study on crushing characteristics of thick-walled aluminum tubes under axial loading
Author: Hong, Seung-Jun

Appeared in: International journal of crashworthiness
Paging: Volume 3 (1998) nr. 3 pages 225-236
Year: 1998
Contents: This paper presents results of quasi-static and dynamic axial collapse tests on extruded 6061T6, 6063T6, 6005A thick aluminum prismatic tubes. The force-shortening curves from experiments are compared with those calculated using explicit code and CRASH CAD. The estimate of the maximum crippling force is expressed as a function of section geometry and material property by using dimensional analysis. The approximate results of dimensional analysis are in good agreement with the experiments.
