Contents: After spending years on training in various methodologies, many organizations are calling it quits and turning to outsourcing companies for systems development. This article sheds new light on the ongoing question of choosing methodologies—in particular SDLC versus prototyping—by identifying common myths about each. IS developers can make more informed decisions on the selection and use of development methodologies and tools by steering clear of these myths and adhering to the four tenets introduced.
