Contents: Measurements of relative intensities of O(N) and S(N) lines in the vibration-rotation Raman spectrum of gaseous oxygen are reported for six values of the rotational quantum number N (N=9-19). The results yield γ1/γ0 = [(∂α¦/∂R) - (∂α⊥/∂R)]e Re/(α¦ - α⊥)e = 2·85 ± 0·17. The effects of spin multiplicity are evaluated and found to be negligible for N ≥ 9.
