We shall consider long-time-harmonic plane waves from a constant depth ocean obliquely incident on a straight linear continental slope, followed by a shallower constant depth continental shelf. The shelf is terminated by a straight coastline, the local dimensions of which are assumed small enough compared to the wavelengths involved to allow the coastline to be treated as a vertical wall. In order to allow for some local effects, however, the wall is taken as partially reflecting rather than the more common rigid reflector used elsewhere. |
