Marine geodetic processes are occurring on the west coast of Canada, as in other places on the globe, with a wide range of time scales. To understand the causative forces, various geological, oceanographic, and ocean-atmosphere interaction problems have to be considered. In this brief review, the effects of tides, storm surges, tsunamis, and increases in atmospheric and ocean temperatures due to atmospheric carbon dioxide buildup are considered.
