Suppose p,R an inner product space over the DedeKind Domain D and M and N arc isometric, nonsingular submodules of P in this note, we consider when we can conclude that [image omitted] and [image omitted] are isometric if we do not assume that 2 is invertible in D. We first observe that if (*) is a condition on [image omitted] which is inherited by all [image omitted] and that guarantees [image omitted] and [image omitted] isometric when M and N are hyperbolic planes, then (*)plus [image omitted] being the norm group modulo D2) guarantees isometry for arbitrary M and N. Cancellation results are then obtained for discrete valuation rings and rings of integers in an algebraic number field and an extension theorem of J. S. Hsia is proved. |
