Inhoud: The problem of determining the distribution of the thermal stresses in the neighborhood of a penny-shaped Crack of defined deformed shape under general temperature conditions is solved The defined deformed shape of the crack surfaces are not symmetric about the plane z = 0. The crack surfaces are subjected to uneven temperature; that is, the temperature applied on the upper surface is different from the lower surface. This problem physically corresponds to the case in which a thin circular disclike inclusion is situated in an infinite medium whose faces are subjected to different temperature. A closed form solution is obtained, reducing the problem to a set of Abel integral equations. The thermal stress singularities at the rim of the thin disclike inclusion is discussed In a special case of temperature conditions, thermal stresses at a general point of the medium are obtained and presented graphically.
