HUGONIOT RELATIONS FOR DIFFERENT HEAT CONDUCTION LAWS

Title: HUGONIOT RELATIONS FOR DIFFERENT HEAT CONDUCTION LAWS
Author: Arcisz, Maria
Kosinski, Witold
Appeared in: Journal of thermal stresses
Paging: Volume 19 (1996) nr. 1 pages 17-38
Year: 1996-01-01
Contents: The problem of heat transported by conduction in an anisotropic hyperelastic solid, in which heat pulses are transmitted by waves, is considered. Two approaches are presented: the first based on a balance law for an extra thermal vector variable and the second based on the concept of a scalar internal state variable representing a potential and interpreted as a semi-empirical temperature scale. An extra term in the stress response function that represents a thermal stress due to the heat conduction is derived. In both cases Hugoniot relations for shock wave propagation are derived. Differences as well as similarities between these two models are demonstrated.
