We consider temperature rate-dependent thermoelastic equations developed by Green and Lindsay to solve a three-dimensional problem of an infinite homogeneous and isotropic elastic body that is acted upon by a suddenly applied point body force. Explicit expressions for the displacements and temperature field are obtained by using the Fourier-Laplace transform technique. An approximate small-time solution is obtained. Numerical values of the short-time solution have been displayed graphically. |
