This paper presents an analytical model of a deep circular tunnel excavated in an elastoplastic medium and subjected to an axisymmetrical time-dependent temperature field. The subsequent thermal expansion generates different plastic zones as well as positive convergences. It is shown that under certain simplifying assumptions, the boundaries of the elastoplastic zones are given by a system of simple simultaneous algebraic equations. Examples are given to illustrate the practical applications of the model. |
