This paper deals with a contact problem in infinitely long, elastic layered media that are subjected to periodic moving frictional loads on the upper surface. The general analytic solutions of temperature and stress distributions are obtained by means of the Laplace and Fourier transforms. A numerical inversion technique is utilized to solve the general solution for the case of uniform pressure distribution. Results of the transient stresses and temperature distribution are presented. The effect of different material properties on the stresses and temperature distribution are also studied. Young' s modulus ratio and the thermal conductivity ratio are found to play an important role on thermal stress distribution |
