In a first experiment, phosphatase activities of seedlings, at the first day of radicle emergence, and of roots of young plants, at the fifth day of radicle emergence, have been studied in three species differing in their NaCl tolerance threshold: tomato NaCl-sensitive, red cabbage NaCl-tolerant and radish semi-tolerant. The Pase activities (p-nitrophenol phosphatase, ATPase, Phytase) of red cabbage, at the both germinative stage, are the less modified by NaCl salinity. In a second experiment, Pase activities of excised and attached cotyledons of pea have been compared: Pase activities are dependent upon the presence of the axis; the ATPase activity is the main enzyme controlled by the axis. The pnpase activity of seedlings in NaCl free media appears a biochemical marker of NaCl tolerance degree; comparing ATPase and phytase or pnpase activities, also was discussed the availability of energy as a criterion of seed vigour and adaptation to Nacl media.
