Title: In defence of Marxology: A reply to Meghnad Desai's review of T. Shanin et al., Late Marx and the Russian road
Author: Sayer, Derek
Appeared in: The journal of peasant studies
Paging: Volume 14 (1987) nr. 3 pages 406-410
Year: 1987-04
Contents: This note defends T. Shanin et al., Late Marx and the Russian Road against the criticism levelled by Meghnad Desai in a previous issue of The Journal of Peasant Studies. It is argued that the 'late Marx' - as represented in Marx's four drafts of his letter to Vera Zasulich of March, 1881 - and Russian populism address issues that are crucial to contemporary socialist politics, both on the 'periphery' of capitalism and elsewhere.
