Monochlorobenzene is included on the List of Priority Substances to be assessed under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act. Relevant data were critically evaluated to assess the potential human health effects of exposure to monochlorobenzene in the Canadian environment. Based on available data, it is concluded that monochlorobenzene is “possibly carcinogenic to humans”. The estimated average daily intakes of monochlorobenzene for the various age groups in the general population in Canada are approximately 60 to 170 times less than the tolerable daily intake derived from studies in laboratory animals. |
