Aerosols collected at the Alfabia station (1100 m above sea level in Majorca, Spain), in the North Western Mediterranean region were analysed for major inorganic components (sulphate, nitrate, chloride, ammonium, calcium, sodium, magnesium and potassium). Based on the results and their statistics, the aerosols were found to contain species from three different sources: marine, anthropogenic and natural. Also, the ammonium ion concentration was found to be correlated with those of sulphate and nitrate.
