Contents: Ozonation of two phenols, resorcinol and phloroglucinol known as strong trihalomethane precursors, have been studied using surface renewal and eddy diffusivity absorption theories. Rate constants of ozonations have been calculated at different pH and temperature and compared to those predicted from the film theory. Reaction factors were also calculated from these theories and compared each other showing a very good agreement. The major difference was observed when in some cases, film theory predicts an instantaneous reaction while surface renewal and eddy diffusivity theories consider that the reaction is fast of second order.
