This paper reports a rapid and simple indirect method to determine the BOD in 30 minutes. An expression is derived which relates the oxidized organic material chemically in an easy way to the BOD. This expression holds over the range of COD -from 0-1000 mg/1. The method consists of calculating the BOD by measurement of the COD determined in soft digestion conditions <75oC temperature for 15 minutes). |
